About this project

Lost Rainforests of England is a personal blog written by Guy Shrubsole, author of Who Owns England?. It’s a project to explore, photograph, map, and (with luck) help to restore the lost rainforests of England.

Projects to document and restore the temperate rainforests of Scotland and Wales are already established, but appear to be lacking in England – so that’s the focus of my blog.

Research for this blog started in 2020-21 during coronavirus restrictions. As a result, the focus of my initial blogs is likely to be the temperate rainforests of Devon, where I currently live.

  1. Hi
I absolutely love these forests, having known patches in Forest of Bowland and Wales.
Fantastic you’re doing this research. Thankyou!
